So today on my way to work I was listening to X-FM as I always do every early morning. Actually, I would recommend this for everyone. It is amazing what a little bit of rock can do for you in the morning, for the rock fans of course. Not to sound biased but I honestly think that whoever does not listen to rock is missing a little bit of heaven in their lives. This is one genre of music that has the amazing ability to influence you as your mood wants. It knows exactly what you want and.... Okay, I am veering away from the topic. Anyway, so I was listening to Fareed Khimani, one of my favourite radio presenters by the way, and the topic up for discussion was "What wouldn't you give up just to save some money". This got me thinking. Despite the hard times, we as humans all have some things we consider almost sacred and would never give them up despite barely being able to afford them. It is just in us, and I, like most NORMAL people (I say this with all the insinuated emphasis) have my pet peeves as well. So here are 10 things I would never give up just to save a buck or two (if my parents see this, there goes my allowance), not necessarily in order.
1. Salon time- If there is one part of my life I consider almost sacred is my salon time. That is why I avoid those salons with loud-mouthed women who think they know everything about their nieghbours' lives. I always go to the salon once a week (I have short hair so it has to be attended to). I will not lie, maintaining short hair is a bit of a hustle and it is not cheap. However, I would rather miss lunch for two consecutive days that miss doing my hair. It is too much of me to be ignored.
2. Credit- I know most of us are victims here, lol. I use a lot of credit and no matter how many times I say I will cut down, it never works so I just gave in. I do not think I would have like 20 bob on my phone and not buy credit just because I want to save some money. No, that is just being stingy, as a matter of fact. (Although the fact that my folks do not ming sending me credit is a huge plus. YES, YOU SHOULD BE JEALOUS :))
3. Clothes and shoes- I will not lie, I love looking good. I do. Really. A lot. I do not think you can even understand. That is why if I see something I like like a dress or a cool pair of shoes, I will not hesitate to reach out for my wallet. Okay, so maybe I am kinda, almost, just a bit if a shopaholic (do not push it, it comes with the territory) but all the same I do love me some trendy (who uses this word anymore?) clothes and footwear (again, who?)
4. A good phone- I tend to think that your phone, and not ringtone, defines who you are (that is MY opinion, not yours so stop shaking that head lest it breaks, hehehe). One, if it is not a Samsung, I cannot use it. Two, if it is not a dual sim, please die with it. I kid, I kid. But just about the dying part. I can only use a Samsung dual sim phone, period. And I do not see that changing anytime soon so let the holes in the pocket grow bigger (my parents', that is).
5. Going out- I love spending time with my friends though it eats into the already little money I have, lol. But I don't think I would trade it just to save a few coins (except when I am flat broke, as in even fare is an issue). So maybe we have a bit too much fun but who cares. Life is too much fun to bore yourself worrying about money. Go out, use it and come tomorrow you will, eventually, figure out a way to get more. (if not then I apologise for misleading you, lol)
6. Ice cream- Now this is no ordinary ice cream. It is ice cream from that ice cream place at Junction (never really got its name). Their strawberry is soo goooood it literally gives you orgasms (you have not tried it so stop doubting). And everytime I go there (I prefer going alone because I do not want interruptions at such a time :-D) I always leave saying that next time I will have only one scoop but no. I always have two or three. And I am not about to miss THAT ice cream just to save those few coins which I know I will end up using on something on this list anyway.
7. Accessories- Be it earrings, rings, belts or bags, I gotta have them. I am literally addicted to buying earrings (again, it comes with the shopaholic territory). I have to buy at least a pair or two every week. As for bags, I heve to carry a good bag and the way nowadays to get a good bag you have to dig so deep into your pockets (buying a cow is probably cheaper, I reckon). But all the same, if I have the mullah in my pocket, I will buy it then get one of my friends to send me money for bus fare or manipulate someone into picking me up (we all do it, SMH).
8. Beacons chocolate- As probably all girls are, I am addicted to chocolate. This particular brand, Beacons, knows exactly how to tease my sweet tooth. At any one time, I have to have either Ivory Cream or Ebony and Ivory in my bag. Or both. I love it, I just do. And I do not mind spending my last shillings on them. I mean, I can always collect couch change if worst comes to worst, right? Right? Ah, never mind.
9. Scents- I am almost 99% sure that we all love smelling good (okay, for the select few who do not, #gositinacorner). I love my deodorant and my perfume, though sometimes I use colognes (look at you judging yet you do the same). I think it is well known that to get a good scent is not cheap but I would rather take a loan than not be able to buy my treasure scents. This should go for every NORMAL human being (oh yes I did).
10. MY pillow- I know this seems petty but hey, it is MY list, not yours, hehehe. I have a specific custom type of pillow I always use. I do not mind people using it but I cannot use any other pillow type. And I do not see myself stoping this trend. I would sacrifice anything in this God-forsaken world for that pillow (hahahaha, okay, so I just wanted to be a bit dramatic). But seriously, it is almost an obsession few would understand but I have to have my pillow and sleep with it every night.
So that is MY list (I know I have emphasized the MY a bit too much but so what? Sue me, hehehehe) and now I have to get back to work and start thinking of another excuse to go home early. It is Monday after all, though I do not know its significance. As I sign out, booyah!

Your blog is fly {Had to use that or I would have been haunted if I said 'cute'.} I love the typos and the sense you make. You make the blog seem... human. Cheers madame. And officially a fan.
