Sports Galore

I am shocked I still have my job/internship. I have not been to work in quite sometime..... But that's what you get for having an AWESOME boss. So today I was heading to my relaxing place work and as usual, Fareed Khimani (still bummed he is married, lol) was on with Rude Awakening. Topic of discussion today? Who is better at sex? Older or younger men? It was quite interesting until an 18 year old called in and said younger guys are better. I almost fell out the bus window laughing. And Fareed didn't make things any better by asking her "So what is young to you? Like FOUR?" #winning

So now I am sure you think this is what I will blog about today, right? Nah. If I do I am no better than that 18 year old. Remind me in like 6-8 years time and I will get to it (if I will still have time to blog cz you know......... Yea). I just found that a bit interesting and thought I would share with you (see how much I love y'all *lies people tell*) Anyway, I realised its been a while since I blogged about sports (for all you MAN UNITED haters relax, this is a bit different). So for those stupid enough to read the whole blog the faithful followers I am sure you have picked up on the subtle (I try not to be too obvious) hints that I kinda love football. But I am a bit of a sports bluff and I watch most of them, with the exception of a few weird ones (polo, seriously? Not unless I am being taken on a date and the only reason I would go is because it seems snobbish fancy). Anyway, these are the sports I love :-D

1. MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL
Really? You seriously thought just because I said this is different I would not start with this? I am dissapointed, you should know better. However, I will not gloat thaaaaat much about UNITED 'cept maybe that I am glad I support the most successful English club and 2nd best in Europe (yes, I am under no illusions we are the best, Barca have that locked down). Anyway, this is my #1 sport because of the passion and loyalty associated with the beautiful game. From MIGHTY UNITED to sensational Barca to European Kings AC Milan to underdogs Porto, watching each game almost brings a tear to my eye. I LOVE OT IT. Small wonder it is referred to as the beautiful game and holds one of the world's most spectacular sporting events, THE WORLD CUP (which reminds me, I hope Brazil took the opportunity of being booted out of SA '10 so early to go build stadiums :-D) My first love, FOOTBALL.

2. TENNIS
I like tennis. No, I love tennis. Apart from the fact that I used to play tennis in my hey-days (tihihihihi, I sound so old), I find it very entertaining. Especially with the new crop of players coming up. Nadal, DJOKOVIC, Roddock, Del Potro, Tsonga and for women we have Sharapova, Sneijder, Safina. It is amazing and I love how tennis players are able to control the ball with just but a racquet. From the days of Sampras to Agassi to Federer, it has been am amazing journey. Even with the dominance of the William sisters (that was not normal) it still did not lose its appeal. All this tennis talk makes me want to get back onto that court........ On second thought, its too cold (its like what? 13 degrees outside?) As I digress......... Anyway, tennis is lovely. It is a game for gentle people :)

3. FORMULA ONE
Aaaaaa, F1. I love Richard Hammond cars hence my love for this sport. And if I may, I think Top Gear is the best motor show so for those who ask my two-pence worth of opinion as to which is better between Top Gear and Fifth Gear, there you go. Hammond, Clarkson and James May (I can never call him by just one name) have the best job in the world. Back to the matter at hand, I will confess I am relatively new at being an F1 fan. Before you judge, here is why. When Schumacher was dominating, I did not really follow it because became a bit monotonous. I did watch but not as faithfully. But with the emergence of Hamilton (Nicole is a lucky bitch woman), VETTEL, Alonso and co. it got a bit more interesting because now there was variety. But all in all I love the cars and as much as I love speed, I cannot see myself getting into those things. Death. But I love it because it is so enthralling and the adrenaline rush. My Gaaaaaad. Too much.

And I am sorry but I just had to put up this photo ^_^

4. RUGBY
Hahahaha, most people who know me expected this to be third or sum' like that. Buuuuut, it falls here. They say football is a game played by gentlemen and watched by hooligans while rugby is played by hooligans ad watched by gentle men (I probably shoulda just written 'vice versa' huh?) Anyway, I cannot confirm the validity of that expression but if I come across 'they' I will be sure to ask them. However, from personal experience, I think both fans are hooligans. If not then you do not have true passion for the game. One of the reasons I love this sport is that I get to see muscular men in tiny shorts and bicep-hugging shirts *hides* Seriously though, I love the physical nature of the game and the tactical approaches. I actually find it quite intelligent because of the technicalities involved. Plus seeing those toned bodies does not hurt one bit either :)

5. BASKETBALL
Now this final spot was a huge tussle between basketball and cricket and since I did not want to sound too third world country-ish, I went for basketball. I kid, I kid. I love my country. KENYANS ROCK :-D Seriously though, I just happen to watch the former more though I love cricket so much (I know I am weird) To be honest I rarely follow the basketball seasons as faithfully as I should be but when it comes to the play-offs, I am one of the biggest loud-mouths, lol. But that's because the play-offs are so interesting than following the entire season although there are a few select games during the season I cannot miss. Mavericks were sensational this year but despite that, my favourite team remains BOSTON CELTICS. There is just something about them I cannot resist supporting.

These are just my top 5 choice sports. I love others like cricket (India), swimming (Phelps, Dunford ;)) and even badminton (what? It is a sport........ kinda). But one sport I have never been keen on is American Football. I do not know whether it is because I have never understood it or just never took my time on it. If someone could explain it to me in detail I would be more than happy to start following it. Baseball is also cool though I only get to watch it on telly but I think it is rather interesting. That I do not mind.

Anyway, that is me. I loooove my sports. Most people actually question my sex. Like, 'Dude, are you sure yo not a girl?' Hahaha, but I am used to it. Guess its why I get along with guys so easily. They are usually so fascinated while I really do not see the big deal. But I do not blame them. I probably also would be freaked out intrigued if I found a STRAIGHT guy who looooves shopping, listening to RnB and watching soaps (I just puked a bit in my mouth). That would just be downright scary.

And I just noticed it has been a while since I insulted you all so........

Okay, I was just kidding..... Cheer up. Like this guy.

As I sign out, booyah!
